Panel discussion: Crossing the divide

Over the past few decades, gender conversations have taken centre stage resulting in increased awareness, and to some degree, actions pushing for greater equality. Yet, Singapore has only closed 72% of the gender gap to date and at the current relative pace, it could take another 165 years for East Asia and the Pacific to get to a gender equal society (according to the Global Gender Gap Report 2021 by the World Economic Forum). What can we do to break the bias for a more inclusive and equitable society? Let’s hear from women who have paved their way forward in a traditionally challenging environment. They will shed some insights on how they overcame gendered norms and challenged unconscious biases of themselves and those around them.

Unconsious bias workshop: It starts with me
Abam Mambo

A workshop where we dive into the root of gender unconsicous biasness and how it affects behaviours at the workplace. Unconscious bias, if left unaddressed, can inadvertently translate to self-selective behaviors that might impede us from chasing after career opportunities that we deem are too ‘outsized’. In this session, join us to learn about how does unconscious bias shows up in common everyday situations - especially in the workplace; and how we can manage it at an individual level. We would also like to explore the idea of imposter syndrome, and how we can self advocate as women.

This year, we will be deliberate to #BreakThe Bias

Fireside chat: The journey together
Alan HoChristine Amour-LevarCorinna LimCaren Tso

Amid painful acts of discrimination we've seen across the globe in the past year, we see a powerful movement take place, calling for social reform and equity. In this segment, we want to dive deeper into what being an ally means. We hope to explore the modern day challenges of a woman, what allyship looks like and how we can do our part to further the narrative in gender equality.
